Currents announce Our Fates Lie in Tandem as they sign with Rise Records

Currents have signed to Rise Records and announced their fourth full-length album, Our Fates Lie in Tandem, due for release on 12th February 2027.

The record is the Connecticut metalcore outfit’s first full-length release in nearly four years, and arrives ahead of their UK and European co-headline run with Erra, which reaches Britain later this month.

Vocalist Brian Wille describes the 11-track album as a more exposed and personal document than its predecessors. “There’s some social commentary and a little bit of heartbreak too,” he says. “I brought the wall down, so I could be more personal than ever before. Our Fates Lie in Tandem is not heavy for the sake of being heavy either.

“We agreed a track doesn’t need to be ‘a walking breakdown’ in order to make an impact. So, you’re getting the lows, the highs, and everything in between. There’s a reason for each element and meaning behind every word.”

Retributioner opens the new chapter

The announcement is accompanied by new single Retributioner, a dense and confrontational first preview of the record. The song takes aim at the pressure to compromise personal principles in pursuit of success.

“We’re told that to get anywhere in life you need to abandon your principles and cut through others as they would to you,” the band say. “Retributioner seeks to dismantle those ideas, even if it means dismantling the structures and systems perpetuating them.”

The album was produced by guitarist Chris Wiseman, with additional production from Ice Nine Kills guitarist Ricky Armellino. Jon Dolese, whose previous work includes Chelsea Grin and Cane Hill, handled mixing duties.

On joining Rise Records, the band say: “The legacy of Rise is unmatched. The impact of their work has been felt by all of us for as long as we’ve loved music. We’re so excited to work with them on this new era of our band.”

Pre-order and pre-save Our Fates Lie in Tandem here. The album will also be available across several limited-edition vinyl variants.
