Yungblud Unleashes First Half of Explosive Double Album ‘Idols’

“A love letter to self-reclamation… to rock music… to life; in all its f*cking madness.” That’s how Yungblud describes Idols, the first installment of his forthcoming double album, due for release on 20th June 2025 via Locomotion/Island Records.

Following two UK number one albums and 6 billion global streams, the 27-year-old provocateur returns with his most ambitious work yet. Written and recorded in Leeds—just miles from his hometown—the 12-track project is a raw, unfiltered exploration of identity, self-worth, and cultural hero-worship.

“We compare ourselves to 15 different people before we’ve even had our breakfast.”

Yungblud – Idols

Produced alongside Matt Schwartz, with Bob Bradley and Adam Warrington contributing, Idols ditches conventional singles-focused strategy in favor of immersive world-building. “I wanted to make a project with no limitations,” says Yungblud.

The record’s lead single, ‘Lovesick Lullaby’, dropped on 25th April with an evocative video by Charlie Sarsfield. The artist celebrated the release by serving fans pints at London’s iconic Hawley Arms. The song, praised for fusing Liam Gallagher’s swagger with Beach Boys-esque harmonies, is the follow-up to his epic comeback track ‘Hello Heaven, Hello’, which premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Jack Saunders’ Hottest Record.

Fans already got a taste of the new material during a surprise show at London’s Scala, where Yungblud debuted ‘Zombie’, a haunting song inspired by his grandmother’s struggle with trauma and healing.
