Sex Pistols feat. Frank Carter expand December UK tour for 50 years of punk
Sex Pistols feat. Frank Carter have added six new UK shows to their December Anarchy In The U.K. tour, extending the run marking 50 years since the band’s defining debut single.
The newly announced dates take in Leeds, Newcastle, Liverpool, Birmingham, Portsmouth and Bristol, joining previously confirmed arena and academy shows in Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow and London.
The tour arrives around the 50th anniversary of Anarchy In The U.K., which was released on 26 November 1976. The single became a flashpoint for Britain’s punk movement, its snarling refrain capturing an era of economic strain and youthful frustration.
Paul Cook said: “With Anarchy, I think we tapped into a feeling of unrest around the country at the time. The message was pretty simple – just have a go and get out there and do whatever you want to do. It was a new world.”
Six more nights of anarchy
The expanded run will see Steve Jones, Glen Matlock and Cook joined by Carter for a set built around the Sex Pistols catalogue. The new dates begin at Leeds’ O2 Academy on 4 December and conclude at Bristol’s Prospect Building on 16 December.
Jones said: “We’re having a blast – we’re like a well-oiled machine right now – and it’s been incredible to get out there with these songs we wrote 50 years ago. We love it. Frank’s a great frontman and really gets the crowd going. Every person in the audience loves these songs as much as we do and it’s an absolute pleasure to get out there and play them.”
Tickets for the newly announced shows go on general sale at 10am on Friday 4 September.
