Sex Pistols Finsbury Park reunion set for red vinyl reissue

“It was always a debate that the Pistols couldn’t play. I think Filthy Lucre shows not only that we can play but we are a powerhouse.”

Sex Pistols to reissue 1996 Finsbury Park reunion show on red vinyl and CD

Sex Pistols will release their 1996 Finsbury Park reunion recording Filthy Lucre Live as a double red vinyl set and CD on 20 November 2026.

The reissue arrives 30 years after John Lydon, Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock reconvened for the Filthy Lucre tour, with the 23 June 1996 Finsbury Park date capturing the original line-up in full flight on a set built around Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols.

Tracks including Bodies, God Save The Queen, Holidays In The Sun, Pretty Vacant and Anarchy In The U.K. all feature, alongside reunion-era performances of No Fun and Buddies. The latter two songs, originally issued as Japanese bonus tracks, will be included on the vinyl and CD editions for the first time.

Steve Jones and Paul Cook revisit the Filthy Lucre tour

Guitarist Steve Jones said: “It was 20 years on from when we initially broke up in ‘78, and it was always a debate that the Pistols couldn’t play. I think Filthy Lucre shows not only that we can play, but we are a powerhouse. Long live rock’n’roll.”

Drummer Paul Cook added: “It wasn’t all about the ‘filthy lucre’ – that title was always ironic – it was about getting the original lineup behind Never Mind The Bollocks, Here’s The Sex Pistols back together and showing what we could really do. I loved it.”

The Finsbury Park show landed during the fevered summer of Euro 1996, a day after England beat Spain on penalties. Stuart Pearce and Gareth Southgate, both in attendance, introduced the band on stage before the set began.

The tour’s title was taken from the Daily Express’ 1976 headline, “Punk? Call It Filthy Lucre”, and marked the return of Matlock to the line-up after his 1977 departure. The 1996 shows were the Pistols’ first together since their tumultuous 1978 US tour.
