Spanish Love Songs set November release for Future Nausea as Good American arrives
Spanish Love Songs have announced their fifth album, Future Nausea, due for release on 6 November 2026 through Pure Noise Records.
The Los Angeles band have introduced the record with lead single Good American, a sharp, stripped-back blast of heartland-sized punk rock that places political violence, economic insecurity and broken institutional promises at the centre of its story.
Produced by former Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla and Illuminati Hotties’ Sarah Tudzin, Future Nausea is described as a record that reaches for widescreen guitars, shimmering keyboards and arena-ready choruses while refusing easy comfort in nostalgia.
An angry song at the record’s core
Vocalist Dylan Slocum says Good American grew from thoughts around the military-industrial complex and the people left behind by the institutions they once trusted.
“The military complex is a complicated, terrible thing that preys on economic instability and desperation, all under the guise of patriotism and making people feel like they belong to something greater than themselves,” Slocum says.
“With Trump’s re-election I started seeing stories of trans soldiers, including some career soldiers my own age, being tossed aside even more callously. It brought back the memories of the vets I met all those years before. From there, the story emerged in each successive verse. A story of what life looks like after the institution you believed in deems you surplus to needs.
“It’s an angry song. Maybe the angriest song I’ve ever written. The recording of it followed accordingly. We wanted to keep it minimal. Loud. It sets the tone for the album and this era of the band. We want everyone dancing and shouting.”
Slocum has framed the album as the band’s attempt at a “big rock record”, drawing on the scale of records such as Born in the U.S.A. while sharpening the political edge of his writing.
“But as much as I wanted to make a major-key-sounding album, I wanted it to be as angry politically as it could be,” he explains. “More angry than sad. I actually think this is the least sad record we’ve ever made.”
Twelve songs of dread, defiance and dancefloor release
The 12-track record opens with its title track before moving through the driving Living Blues, the pounding New Fears and the synth-lit release of Doom Tripping. Elsewhere, Jan666 and No Dreams examine relationships warped by right-wing extremism and alienation, while closer Until the Sun Explodes offers a more communal note.
“Even if things look lonely, I have my people,” Slocum says. “If we can start to understand that the interpersonal relationships are what matters, we can get to the other side of this.”
