Mark Laff Returns with XGENERATIONX for UK Tour in November 2025

Featuring Spandau Ballet’s Steve Norman and Westworld’s Elizabeth Westwood

Original Generation X drummer Mark Laff is set to make a thunderous return to the UK live scene this November with his new band XGENERATIONX, reviving and reimagining the songs that helped define a generation of British punk. The lineup is nothing short of electric: Elizabeth Westwood (Westworld) leads on vocals, and Steve Norman (Spandau Ballet) brings his signature swagger on guitar and sax.

Laff’s contribution to British punk history is undeniable. After cutting his teeth with Subway Sect on The Clash’s White Riot Tour, he cemented his place in the genre as drummer for Generation X—alongside Billy Idol—on classics like Your Generation, Ready Steady Go, and King Rocker. Now, nearly 50 years later, he’s revisiting that iconic material with fresh energy and a killer band.

“For those who kept the faith, I promise not to disappoint with this new exciting lineup,” says Laff. “It’s important that XGENERATIONX bring new life to the iconic songs from the 1st and 2nd Generation X albums.”

Elizabeth Westwood, a vibrant voice in the 80s alt scene, adds serious pedigree and personal history to the band. Her past with Westworld (which also included Generation X guitarist Bob “Derwood” Andrews) ties her directly to the Gen X lineage. She later married James Stevenson, who succeeded Andrews in Gen X’s final incarnation.

Steve Norman, best known for helping shape the New Romantic sound with Spandau Ballet, brings a dynamic edge to XGENERATIONX. As a teen, he was captivated by punk’s raw energy—an influence he now gets to channel full-force on stage.

“Generation X were the rebels with guitars, the punk poets of their time,” Norman says. “Teaming up with Mark, Elizabeth and Michael to push these songs into a new era is going to be something really special.”

Rounding out the band is Michael Giaquinto on bass, whose past in Vice Squad and Brazil’s underground scene adds grit and global experience.

Alongside the tour, the band is also cooking up new material for release later in the year—so this isn’t just a nostalgia act, but a bold step into the present.
