Friends of Friends Announce New EP Synthetic Flower Chainsaw

Explosive new single “Skin” out now, full release lands 24th October 2025

Gold Coast alt-rock band Friends of Friends are turning up the emotional volume with the announcement of their brand new EP, Synthetic Flower Chainsaw, out 24th October 2025.

Following critical acclaim from Triple J, BBC Radio 1, and Kerrang!, the band have dropped a new single, “Skin” — a sprawling, emotionally raw track that’s part arena-sized catharsis, part whispered confession. It’s a slow build into emotional detonation.

“It started as a love song, but what it really became was about feeling trapped in your own body, your own head,” says frontman Barnaby. “It’s lust, it’s longing, but also that fear of being seen too clearly.”

No Studios. No Filters. All Feeling.

Skin sets the tone for what the band promise is their most fearless work to date. The entire EP was written, recorded, mixed, and mastered DIY by Barnaby in the band’s bedrooms — no external producers, no glossy studios. It’s chaotic, unfiltered, and tender to the touch.

Described as “a collision of jagged punk, brittle intimacy, and gut-spilt honesty,” Synthetic Flower Chainsaw is both a sonic risk and an emotional statement. The EP builds a maximalist world while staying grounded in raw, confessional songwriting.

Building Buzz and Stages Around the World

Already amassing over 1.1 million Spotify streams across a handful of singles and their 2024 debut EP REAL LIFE, RIGHT NOW, Friends of Friends have cemented their reputation as one of Australia’s most exciting live acts.

With support slots for Kasabian, Sea Girls, The Reytons, Short Stack, and Slowly Slowly, the band has become a familiar name on festival stages from Spilt Milk and BIGSOUND to SXSW Sydney and Easy Lover — even grabbing the attention of Mike Shinoda (Linkin Park) during their Brisbane showcase.

As the Synthetic Flower Chainsaw era begins, it’s clear that Friends of Friends aren’t waiting for the world to hand them a stage — they’re building their own.
