“The songs were written and recorded over a two-year period from 2024 to 2026. In many ways these songs mark a growth for me personally.”

Kiefer Sutherland announces new album Grey

Kiefer Sutherland has announced his fourth studio album, Grey, set for release on May 29 via Maple Creek Records. Alongside the news, he has also shared the album’s first single, “Simpler Time,” a reflective first taste of a record that leans further into country, Americana and folk.

The new LP follows a two-year writing and recording stretch between 2024 and 2026, and by Sutherland’s own account, it marks a more personal turn. Where some of his earlier work drew from observation, Grey appears to come from a more inward place, shaped by private emotions and lived experience.

A more personal record

Speaking about the album, Sutherland said he was “happy and excited” to be releasing Grey, describing the songs as signs of personal growth. That shift is especially clear in “Simpler Time,” which looks back on youth with a mixture of nostalgia and hard-earned perspective.

Rather than playing memory as fantasy, Sutherland frames the song as something more grounded. He describes it as a reflection on a period that felt more dependable culturally, socially and politically, while acknowledging the way the past can soften around the edges.

That tension gives the single its pull. It is nostalgic, but not naïve.

Produced by a heavyweight trio

Grey was produced by Ethan Johns, Rocco DeLuca and Mark Neill, giving the record a strong creative backbone before a note is even heard. The album will be released on vinyl and CD, with pre-orders available now.

The full tracklist is:

  • Come Back Down
  • American Farmer
  • Goodbye California
  • Simpler Time
  • Starlight
  • Cruel World
  • Down Below
  • Third Time’s A Charm
  • The Bottle Let Me Down
  • Rage In Me

UK and European run begins next month

Sutherland will hit the road across Europe, the UK, Ireland and North America this spring and summer, with the UK and European leg beginning next month. Among the standout dates is a stop at London’s Union Chapel on May 12.
