The Dollyrots unveil Apocalyptic Romance ahead of 2027 album and anniversary tour
The Dollyrots have released Apocalyptic Romance, the first preview of a new album due in spring 2027.
The pop-punk duo’s latest track arrives alongside the first dates for their 2027 Apocalyptic Romance Tour, which will see Kelly Ogden and Luis Cabezas bring new material to the stage while celebrating two decades of Because I’m Awesome.
The record, originally released in 2007, will turn 20 next year. The forthcoming run will feature songs from the album alongside the first live performances of material from the as-yet-untitled new release.
“With a new album coming out and 20 years of Because I’m Awesome on the horizon, we’re thrilled to play some new songs live for the very first time while celebrating a record that means a ton to us and the fans,” says Ogden. “Making music now feels as urgent and fresh for us as it did two decades ago, and this tour’s going to wrap it all up in one big bow!”

A record reclaimed as an anthem
Speaking about the lasting connection to Because I’m Awesome, Cabezas says the title track’s meaning shifted once it reached listeners.
“We originally wrote the title track to Because I’m Awesome from a sarcastic point of view, and after it came out, we realised it was being adopted as an anthem of self-empowerment,” he says. “Ever since then, we’ve embraced that feeling. It means so much to us when people come up to us and tell us how that song and album has gotten them through a challenging time. Even after 20 years, it’s humbling to have a record that continues to resonate.”
Apocalyptic Romance is available now, with the new album set to follow in spring 2027 via Wicked Cool Records. Stream the new single here.
