Breed 77 Share Don’t Give Me Up Ahead of VII and UK Tour

“It’s OK to be different – to dress however you want, to look the way that makes you happy, to live your life on your own terms.”

Breed 77 unveil Don’t Give Me Up as VII release and November dates approach

Breed 77 have released Don’t Give Me Up, the final preview of their forthcoming album VII, which arrives on Friday 13 November.

The track is the latest step towards the Gibraltar-rooted metallers’ first full-length record in 13 years. Beginning with nylon-string guitar before opening into a heavier chorus, Don’t Give Me Up brings the band’s flamenco flourishes, dual-guitar weight and melodic hooks together around a message aimed at those pushed to the margins.

In a statement, the band said: “Don’t Give Me Up is an epic rocker of a song with a strong message – an anthem for the dispossessed, the outcasts, the misunderstood and the discriminated against.

“We’re here to say that it’s OK to be different – to dress however you want, to look the way that makes YOU happy, to live your life on your own terms, not other peoples. This song champions the resilience of all the ‘freaks’ and ‘weirdos’ and celebrates them as they rise above the challenge of modern day.”

A record shaped across three countries

VII follows recent singles Wish You Well, End Of The Line, Outside and Just Act Like You Know. Frontman Paul Isola said the album was written and recorded over an extended period, with sessions taking place across three countries.

“The recording of this album has taken place over a year and a half and three countries, the writing of it even more,” Isola said. “The result is an album with real musical depth.

“This album still sounds like Breed 77; there’s the flamenco guitars, the tribal rhythms, the hooky vocal lines, but it stretches and pulls at the concept of B77 in a dozen different directions.”

The 11-track album is due on 13 November. Pre-save the album here.
