Split Dogs Unleash Monster-Sized Riffs on New Track ‘Monster Truck’

“We’re not beholden to the digital age, we just want to show the world that rock’n’roll is alive and well.” – Mil Martinez

Bristol’s punk rock ‘n roll torchbearers, Split Dogs, have roared back onto the scene with their latest single, ‘Monster Truck’, out now via Venn Records (home to Gallows, Bob Vylan, High Vis). Known for their ferocious sound and unapologetic attitude, Split Dogs deliver a track packed with raw energy, larger-than-life riffs, and a message of resilience.

Roots in Punk, Rock, and Rebellion

Formed in 2015 by vocalist Harry Atkins and guitarist Mil Martinez, Split Dogs originated as a response to the growing commodification of music. Drawing influences from punk, rock, and Northern Soul, their sound is a collision of Martinez’s early exposure to heavy rock and Atkins’ love for Slade and Club Lafayette’s rock’n’roll nights. With the recent additions of bassist Suez Boyle (a queer punk scene staple) and drummer Chris Hugall, the band has solidified a powerhouse lineup that’s shaking up the UK punk scene.

A Monster-Sized Anthem

‘Monster Truck’ is a no-nonsense anthem about life’s challenges and powering through them. As Martinez puts it, “It’s about lessons learned, seeing it coming, but you keep on trucking.” The track is bolstered by the band’s signature no-frills recording style—captured live to tape with no autotune or digital tricks at Middle Farm Studios. The authenticity bleeds through every note, with Martinez’s crunchy guitar riffs and Atkins’ commanding vocals taking centre stage.

To match the heavy-hitting sound of ‘Monster Truck’, Split Dogs enlisted Big Pete Ltd, the UK’s top monster truck team, for an equally massive music video. “Big rigs, big riffs, and big moves—it was a no-brainer to bring in the best monster trucks in the UK to do this song justice,” says Martinez.

Uncompromising and Here to Destroy

Split Dogs have always been about more than just the music. They’re here to remind everyone that rock’n’roll isn’t dead—it’s alive and ready to destroy. Their raucous live performances have earned them a reputation as one of the most electrifying punk acts in Bristol and beyond, playing to sold-out crowds across Europe and catching the eye of UK label Venn Records.
