The Mary Tyler Whores Announce Debut Album As Filthy As We Wanna Be

The Mary Tyler Whores are dragging their cult-punk chaos back into the spotlight with the announcement of their debut album, As Filthy As We Wanna Be, set for release on September 25 via Cadiz Music.

The Mary Tyler Whores

Produced by Greg Hetson of Circle Jerks and Bad Religion fame, the record promises to bottle the band’s decades-in-the-making cocktail of sweat, speed, bad decisions and street-level punk rock filth.

To mark the announcement, the Florida-born punk wrecking crew have shared a new single, Hell On Wheels, alongside a suitably deranged video packed with raw live energy, fractured edits, mixed-media chaos and explosive effects.

A Long Road From South Florida Mayhem

The Mary Tyler Whores’ story begins in the back alleys of South Florida in 1999, where Frankie “Crime” Cassara, Doobie Tyler Whore and the late Joey Image of The Misfits first sparked what would become a cult-level punk phenomenon.

Frontman Frankie “Crime” Cassara remains the band’s ringleader and resident public menace, while Doobie Tyler Whore’s riffs still land like Molotov cocktails. Joey Image’s early presence behind the kit gave the group a direct line to punk’s undead mythology, tying them to the legacy of Horror Business, Night of the Living Dead and Legacy of Brutality.

Over the years, The Mary Tyler Whores have shared stages with an impressive roll call of punk royalty, including The Misfits, Iggy Pop, GBH, Murphy’s Law, The Casualties, The Bouncing Souls and U.S. Bombs. Their reputation was carved out in sweat, volume and moments of absurd punk theatre, including one infamous incident involving a fan’s prosthetic leg being hurled onstage.

Greg Hetson Joins The Filth

After years of chaos and a long stretch in California, Frankie revived The Mary Tyler Whores in 2023, pulling the gang back together for another round of noise and bad behaviour.

He then called on childhood mentor and longtime friend Greg Hetson to produce As Filthy As We Wanna Be at Hetson Sound Studios in Encino, California.

Hetson has described the record as “one of the fiercest debuts in years,” calling the band’s sound their “own savage mutation of punk rock & roll.”

Hell On Wheels Comes Screaming In

New single Hell On Wheels apparently began with one unhinged line from rhythm guitarist and co-founder Doobie Tyler Whore: “My grandma drives a ’58.”

According to Frankie, the line turned out to be rooted in truth, inspired by Doobie’s grandmother and her ’58 Chevy. From there, the track became a full-throttle tribute to gasoline, family chaos and punk rock recklessness.

The accompanying video, created by visual collaborator Faust, leans into that same spirit. It is all jagged edits, live-wire performance energy and sensory overload, built to feel like a train coming off the tracks with no interest in slowing down.

Underground Momentum

Across 2024 and 2025, The Mary Tyler Whores fired out a string of singles and videos, including White Trash Girl, American Sex Fiend, Savage World and a wild cover of DEVO’s Whip It.

Their underground buzz received a transatlantic boost when Iggy Pop played American Sex Fiend on his BBC Radio 6 Music show, giving the band a salute from one of punk’s most iconic figures.

The band were also invited by Violent J and Shaggy 2 Dope of Insane Clown Posse to perform at the 2025 Juggalo Festival, Gathering of Legends, before ending the year with California carnage supporting T.S.O.L. and headlining their own Holiday Slam Festival in downtown Los Angeles.

The Mary Tyler Whores are expected to tour the UK and Europe across late 2026 and 2027.
