South Arcade drop DEADMEAT before Download Festival main stage set

“We went into writing wanting to tell a sort of modern Romeo and Juliet story, but with a less depressing ending, and we left with DEADMEAT.”

South Arcade release new single DEADMEAT ahead of a packed summer run

South Arcade have shared their new single DEADMEAT, landing just ahead of a summer that will see the band move through major festival stages, US touring and their biggest UK headline date so far.

The track is out now via BKM in partnership with Atlantic US, with the Oxford four-piece placing a more playful spark inside their high-gloss, hook-heavy alternative sound. Stream DEADMEAT here.

A reckless escape story

Discussing the song, the band said: “We went into writing wanting to tell a sort of modern Romeo and Juliet story (but with a less depressing ending), and we left with DEADMEAT. It has this reckless optimism about it where the two characters’ worlds shouldn’t really overlap but they’ve found each other regardless – they want to escape all of that noise, steal a car and leave town. It had this ‘us against the world’ energy that we loved.”

DEADMEAT follows April single SUPERMAN, which became the band’s biggest streaming debut to date and has since passed 1.6 million Spotify streams. The release also comes after recent EPs PLAY! and 2005, plus standout tracks including FEAR OF HEIGHTS, Supermodels and Drive Myself Home.

From Download to Brixton

The single arrives as South Arcade prepare for a busy summer schedule, including a main stage appearance at Download Festival next week. The band are also set for Rock For People and TRNSMT before heading to the US for the Idobi Summer School tour and Vans Warped Tour.

The run follows their recent UK and European arena dates with 5 Seconds Of Summer, during which South Arcade teased DEADMEAT to fans ahead of its official release.

The band have also announced their biggest headline show to date, taking place at London’s O2 Academy Brixton on 25 February 2027. Tickets for the Brixton headline show are on sale now, with the final remaining tickets available.
