Calva Louise release La Promesa as Creeper support tour reaches the UK
Calva Louise have released new single La Promesa, a Spanish-language track shaped by Venezuelan Joropo rhythms and the uneasy pull of unseen forces.
Out now via Mascot Records, the song arrives as the trio join Creeper for four UK dates, beginning in Cardiff on 8 October and continuing through London, Manchester and Glasgow.
La Promesa marks Calva Louise’s first new release since 2025 album Edge of the Abyss. Its title translates as “The Promise”, with vocalist and guitarist Jess Allanic framing the track around the tension between instinct, obsession and consequence.

“Although some of those forces can be positive, others can become empty promises rooted in obsessions and delusions,” Allanic says. “Eventually blurring the lines between doing the right thing, accepting a more challenging path or choosing to ignore the consequences of your own actions because it’s the easy way out.”
A multilingual new chapter
The song is sung primarily in Spanish, with French lines contributed by bassist Alizon Taho. Allanic says the language choice emerged naturally from both the writing process and the track’s musical foundation.
“As Spanish is my native language, it feels more natural for me to accurately convey the abstract emotions that we are experiencing,” she explains. “Also as the song is heavily inspired by Venezuelan Joropo, also known as Música Llanera, Spanish was subconsciously the only way for me to sing this melody, letting the natural flow of the writing process take total control.
“That being said, some French lines are sung by our bass player Alizon, as a nod to our multicultural background, and also adding another perspective to the character’s point of view.”

The accompanying video was written, directed and created using SFX by Allanic, continuing the narrative thread established around Edge of the Abyss. Set against the grounds of an 18th-century manor estate, it focuses on one of the record’s characters.
“The video for La Promesa was, like our previous videos, made by ourselves and our friends and it expands on the story of one of the characters of Edge of the Abyss,” the band say. “Although the video is a DIY endeavour, we feel we keep continuing to progress in our abilities, always trying to increase the production value.”
Calva Louise recorded the new material at home, with drums tracked at The Ranch Recording Studio in southern England. Allanic produced the single, while Jeff Dunne, whose previous credits include Knocked Loose, We Came As Romans and Ice Nine Kills, mixed and mastered it.
