Daytime TV set February release for Rodeo as Meditate arrives

Daytime TV have announced their new studio album, Rodeo, due for release on 19 February 2027 via Marshall Records. The record is introduced by new single Meditate, which is out now, while the band are also heading out on an eight-date UK tour this October.

Produced by Pete Hutchings, whose previous work includes Royal Blood, Foals and Gang of Youths, Rodeo was recorded at The Marshall Studio in Milton Keynes. The album follows a difficult period for frontman Will Irvine, who spent much of 2024 recovering from a severe autoimmune illness.

Irvine says that experience shifted the group’s outlook in the studio, with Rodeo moving away from creative restraint in favour of a more direct and energetic approach.

“When you come close to losing everything, all your inhibitions disappear,” Irvine said. “You stop caring about trying to fit into a specific genre or pleasing anyone else. Rodeo is about stepping boldly into who we really are as a band and as people. It’s an album built on energy, survival, and pure conviction.”

A nostalgic turn on Meditate

New single Meditate finds the band exploring a brighter, pop-facing edge than recent tracks Pause, Sun and Creatures. Its synth-led, widescreen sound is framed around a missed romantic connection and the lingering pull of imagining a different outcome.

The song was written during a heatwave and was informed by Irvine’s use of mindfulness practices during his recovery, when physical isolation became part of his day-to-day reality.

“Written during a heatwave, Meditate is a nostalgic look back at what could have been,” Irvine said. “A chance missed, the ‘what if’ of THAT relationship. Maybe we could’ve done better. Everything was there for us but we let it pass us by and now our lives have gone in different directions.

“Dreaming about how life would’ve been different if things had worked out, then snapping back to the present-day reality to ‘meditate & medicate’, which is what I was prescribed to reset my nervous system at the time we wrote the song.”
