THE SONG FEATURES IN THE CLOSING CREDITS OF THE NEW ‘SCREAM’ FILM
In one of the most unexpected collaborations, you’ll hear this year, the UK’s horror-show punk duo SALEM have teamed up with ascendent US dark-alt pop star Carlie Hanson for a new duet version of their song ‘Fall Out of Love’. The track features as the theme to the end credits in the hit new ‘Scream’ film, which is in cinemas now.
The original version of ‘Fall Out of Love’ is the opening track on SALEM’s self-titled debut EP, which was released in 2020. A blitzkrieg rush of full-throttle punk rock with an immediately anthemic hook, the song’s larger-than-life jet-black humour is the perfect match for this new reboot of the ‘Scream’ series.
SALEM’s Will Gould commented, “It is such an honour to be involved with the Scream movie soundtrack. As big fans of the franchise it has been surreal to be asked to be a part of its legacy in some small way. We couldn’t ask to be featured on a more perfect soundtrack.“
‘Scream’ co-director Matt Bettinelli-Olpin, added, “An intoxicating devil-my-care anthem, an us-against-the-world rallying cry, ‘Fall Out Of Love’ wears it’s sardonic heart on it’s blood-soaked sleeve as it gleefully burns down the very romantic notions it so successfully conjures up with fearless passion and reckless abandon. Equal parts optimistic and cynical, nostalgic and timeless, this bittersweet ode to undying devotion fights through the despair to find hope and ultimately much needed catharsis. I love this song so fucking much.”
Comprised of CREEPER’s flamboyant frontman Will Gould and producer/multi-instrumentalist Matt Reynolds, SALEM released their self-titled debut EP in 2020, and the follow-up, ‘SALEM II’, emerged the following year. Earning widespread critical acclaim as well as Radio 1 airplay from Daniel P Carter, SALEM completed their debut headline tour in the autumn of 2021.
Inspired by the music of Mac DeMarco, Jean Dawson, Alanis Morrissette, Lil Peep, and Nirvana, Carlie Hanson’s highly anticipated debut album ‘Tough Boy’ will be released on February 18th and is available to pre-save here. ‘Tough Boy’unfolds over 13 tracks, taking listeners on a journey that entwines Hanson’s “pop bitch” goals with her sonic boundary-pushing ambition. Thematically, the album culls from Carlie’s full, vibrant spectrum of feelings, but with a confidence that seems new for this 21-year-old.
