Wage War Return to the Swamp With Ferocious New EP

“Five tracks shaped by Florida, the swamp, and the relentless aggression of nature — our signature sound amplified and pushed further into metal than we’ve ever taken it.”

Wage War return with swamp-born fury on It Calls Me By Name

Florida’s own heavy hitters are heading back to their roots — and they’re dragging us straight into the swamp with them.

Wage War — Briton Bond, Cody Quistad, Seth Blake, Chris Gaylord, and Stephen Kluesener — have announced their brand-new EP It Calls Me By Name, landing 17th April 2026 via Fearless Records. The five-track release promises to amplify the band’s signature blend of crushing heaviness and anthemic hooks, pushing further into metallic extremity than ever before.

WAGE WAR

To mark the announcement, the band have unleashed the EP’s opening salvo, Song of the Swamp — a track they’re calling their “tone setter.” And they’re not exaggerating.

A soundtrack for the wild

What lurks in the thick, humid swamps of Florida? Alligators. Anacondas. Predators that strike without warning. Song of the Swamp captures that same primal dread. It’s suffocating, violent, and relentless — bloodthirsty screams tear through downtuned riffs, while percussion lands with the blunt-force impact of a heavyweight’s speedbag session.

“You will be overpowered,” Bond snarls — and the warning feels less like a lyric and more like a guarantee.

“The tone setter,” the band explain. “Song of the Swamp is rooted in where we’re from. Driven by Florida and the raw aggression of nature, it’s a heavy track built on tension and hostility.”

It’s the most brutal material they’ve released in years — the kind of unflinching assault longtime fans have been craving.

Five tracks. One world.

While It Calls Me By Name isn’t framed as a concept EP, it exists in a world entirely its own.

“It Calls Me By Name is about being drawn to your roots,” the band say. “Five tracks shaped by Florida, the swamp, and the relentless aggression of nature. Built heavy, but still driven by the hooks that have defined us. It’s our signature sound amplified and pushed further into metal than we’ve ever taken it.”

If Song of the Swamp is any indication, Wage War are leaning hard into their heaviest instincts — but without sacrificing the melodic sensibility that’s kept them at the forefront of modern metalcore.
