Boundaries Announce New Album Yearning: The Unbeautiful After
Connecticut heavyweights Boundaries have announced their new album Yearning: the unbeautiful after, set for release on July 17 via Sumerian Records.
A record shaped by grief, loss, and a refusal to soften their sound, the album promises to be the band’s most intense and emotionally charged statement to date.

‘Death Will Follow Me’ Sets The Tone
Alongside the announcement comes new single ‘Death Will Follow Me’, a crushing introduction to the album’s themes. It follows previous track ‘Skies Cast Amber Black’, which drew widespread praise for its sheer aggression and unrelenting energy.
Vocalist Matthew McDougal describes the track as just the beginning of a much deeper emotional current running through the record — one rooted in personal tragedy and collective mourning.
An Album Built On Grief And Urgency
Recorded with producer Drew Fulk, Yearning: the unbeautiful after captures Boundaries at their most focused and uncompromising.
The band have leaned into the idea that heavy music should challenge, unsettle, and provoke. This isn’t a record chasing trends — it’s one pushing back against a scene they feel is losing its edge.
“There’s an urgency here,” McDougal explains. “Heavy music should feel threatening. It should make you feel something.”

Guests And Expanding Brutality
The album features appearances from Make Them Suffer and Landon Tewers of The Plot In You, adding further weight to an already punishing tracklist.
Across fourteen songs, the band explore themes of time, purpose, and consequence — asking what we give ourselves to, and what remains when it’s all over.

A Band Refusing To Soften

In a landscape where heaviness is often diluted, Boundaries are making it clear: they’re here to make it hurt again.
