About Steve Hackett
Steve Hackett first rose to prominence in 1971 as the guitarist for Genesis, joining the band’s classic line-up alongside Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford, and Phil Collins. His intricate and innovative guitar work became a defining feature of the band’s sound during their progressive rock era, contributing to iconic albums such as Nursery Cryme (1971), Selling England By The Pound (1973), and Wind And Wuthering (1977).
After departing Genesis in 1977, Hackett embarked on a successful solo career, releasing more than 30 albums that showcase his versatility with both electric and acoustic guitar. His unique blend of progressive rock, classical, and world music has won him acclaim over the decades.
During the pandemic lockdown, Hackett continued to innovate, releasing two new studio albums in 2021: the UK Classical Chart-topping Under A Mediterranean Sky and the rock-focused Surrender of Silence. He also returned to the stage with his celebrated Genesis Revisited tours: Seconds Out + More! (2021) and Foxtrot At Fifty (2022). His 2022 live album Genesis Revisited – Seconds Out + More! achieved career-best chart success, reaching No. 28 in the UK and charting highly across Europe.
Hackett’s most recent studio album, The Circus and The Nightwhale, was released in January 2024 to critical acclaim. Fans have embraced the new material, which Hackett is performing as part of his current tour. Additionally, he has delighted fans with reissues of his classical works, including Bay of Kings and Momentum, now available in remastered editions on both black and limited-edition colored vinyl, as well as CD formats.
With a career that continues to thrive, Steve Hackett remains one of progressive rock’s most influential and innovative guitarists, captivating audiences both new and old.
